Warren Clark Obituary

03/22/2012 - The funeral service for Warren K. Clark , 79, a longtime Stewartville resident, will be at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday (3-25-12) at the United Methodist Church in Stewartville with Rev. Wane Souhrada officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville with military grave side honors provided by the Stewartville American Legion. Mr. Clark died Wednesday (3- 21-12) from complications of cancer at the Stewartville Care Center where he had been a resident for 2 days.

Warren Keith Clark was born Oct. 9, 1932 in Sherwood,Ia., to Walter and Vera(Ramert) Clark. He moved with his family as a child to rural Storm Lake,Ia. where he grew up on the family farm and attended public school. Warren excelled at baseball, basketball and in music while graduating from Truesdale H.S in Truesdale,Ia. He entered the U.S. Army in 1953 to 1955, serving as an engineer in construction, including 18 months of duty in Japan. Warren was married on May 22, 1955 in Storm Lake,Ia. to Joan E. Sennert. Following their marriage the couple moved to Stewartville where they raised their family and have continued to make their home. After a short time farming, Warren was employed by Greenway Cooperative as it’s bulk plant manager

in Stewartville for a number of years. He was employed at J.C. Penney in Rochester as a major appliance technician before his employment at Wrights Small Engine Repair in Rochester until his retirement in 1999. Mrs. Clark was employed for 23 years in the Engineering Tech. Dept for the City of Rochester until her retirement in 2001. Warren was a longtime member of the Stewartville United Methodist Church serving in numerous capacities. He was a retired 20 year member of the Stewartville Volunteer Fire Department and was a charter member of it’s First Response Medical Unit. He served on the first Board of Directors when the Stewartville Youth Athletic Assn.(SYAA) originated, was a member of the Stewartville American Legion Post 164 and volunteered with the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed fishing, wood working, traveling, was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and loved time spent with family especially his grand and great-grandchildren.

Warren’s Masonic career began in 1970 when he was raised a Master Mason in Stewartville Lodge No. 203. He served as Lodge Master in 1974 and was District 28 representative from 1976-1983. He served as Secretary of the Lodge for several years and was appointed Grand Pursuivant in 1985 by then Grand Master- Donald J. Flood. He served as Grand Master of the State of Minnesota in 1993. Other Masonic memberships include – Stewartville Order of Eastern Star No. 102, serving as Worthy Patron twice; Past Wise Master, Chapter Rose Croix, Scottish Rite Rochester Valley; Osman Shrine; Halycon Chapter No. 8, R.A.M.; Tyrian Council No. 4, Cryptic Masons; Home Commandry No.5, Knights Templar; Zagalas Shrine Car Club; Board of Directors, Masonic Cancer Center in Minneapolis. 

Surviors include his wife – Joan/ three daughters and a son- Paula Douglas of Salt Lake City,Ut./ Brenda(Pete) Maringer of Weaver,Mn./ Dale(Anita) of Stewartville/ Donna(Ray) Babcock of Stewartville/ 10 grandchildren/ 18 great-grandchildren/ a sister, Margaret McCarthy of Wichita,Ks. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother – Edward Clark. 

Friends may call from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. on Saturday(3-24) at the United Methodist Church in Stewartville with a Masonic Service at 8:30 P.M. Friends may also call from 8:30 to 11:00 A.M. on Sunday morning at Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville and 1 hr. prior to the service at the church on Sunday afternoon.
