Thomas Noble of Stewartville, MN, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his beloved wife Ann and loving family, following a lengthy illness with congestive heart failure.
Thomas Edward Noble was born on September 22, 1944, in Blooming Prairie, MN, to Albert and Ludmilla “Lu” (Kvasnicka) Noble. The family lived in Newry Township, a small farming community outside of Blooming Prairie. After completing grade five of elementary education at Country School, he attended Blooming Prairie High School, where he met his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Ann Renchin. His love of sports began there, and in 1962, during his senior year of high school, he was the football team captain and MVP for an undefeated season with the Blooming Prairie Blossoms. After graduating in 1962, he attended Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis, earning a degree in machine tool and die making. He married Ann L. Renchin on June 19, 1965, at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Rochester, MN, where Tom began his career at IBM. In 1972, they moved to Stewartville, MN, with their growing family, where they resided for many years. Tom was employed with IBM in Rochester for 30 years, retiring as a Staff Engineer in 1994. After retirement, he accepted a position at Progressive Tool and Manufacturing in Pine Island, MN, until his 2nd retirement in 2010. His wife, Ann, was a homemaker, medical secretary, and retired as a private banking assistant from US Bank in Rochester in 2009. Following their retirements, they moved to their cabin full-time on Northstar Lake in Marcell, MN. Tom and Ann cherished their years on North Star Lake, making memories with family and friends. They created a peaceful life in Northern Minnesota. This time was filled with boating, gardening, fishing, games on the porch, s' ;mores by the fire, and lots of love and laughter. In 2021, they returned to Stewartville, MN, to be closer to old friends and family.
Tom was a longtime, devoted member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Stewartville, where he served as President of the Parish Council and sang in the choir for many years. He was one of the two originators of the St. Bernard’s Mama Tranchita's Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser and was part of the entertainment with his distinguished tenor voice, gregarious personality, and witty sense of humor. He was a long-time member of the Professional Engineers of America and an advocate for those interested in vocational careers. Tom was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan, but his greatest joy was cheering on his children and grandchildren. Tom and Ann truly enjoyed supporting their family.
Tommy was outgoing and loved the moments and memories he created with friends and family. He enjoyed socializing, playing cards, camping, and telling a good story or joke. Tommy had a passion for music. In high school, he sang in an a cappella octet and the choir. He also played sousaphone in the high school band, earning him the nickname “Valve”. He continued his love for music, playing the tuba in the Stewartville Community Band for 23 years. Tommy was a man with many interests and talents. You would often find him in a pair of coveralls, out in the garage working on his latest project. He converted numerous vans and restored a 1967 red convertible VW Bug, his pride and joy. Every year, during the holidays, Tommy would mix up a batch of his delicious BBQ Sauce to share with friends and family. Tommy also enjoyed photography, travel, history, board games, puzzles, woodworking, and was an all-around handyman.
Tom is survived by his wife of 60 years Ann of Stewartville, MN; five children, Andrea (late husband Josh) Billings of Stewartville; Matthew Noble of Aiken, MN; Jill (Brian) Gallagher of Lockport, IL; Kelly Noble of Ely, MN and Carrie O’Keefe (fiance Tim Hanson) of Wayzata, MN; grandchildren, Jacob (Rachel) Noble, Maren Noble, Liam Noble, Caden Gallagher, Riley Gallagher, Kiera Gallagher, Ava Skustad, Aksel Skustad, Ella O’Keefe and Anna O’Keefe.
