Scott E. Wright

Scott E. Wright, 68, a longtime Stewartville, MN resident passed away peacefully on Wednesday May 6, 2026 of natural causes at his home.

Scott Edward Wright was born on August 13, 1957 in Mankato, MN to Bill and Ramona (Allen) Wright.  He moved with his family as a young boy to Stewartville where he attended school and graduated from Stewartville HS in 1975.  During HS he was employed at Light Standard Gas Station on Main St. pumping gas and learned a lot working alongside Harry Light.  He joined the carpenters union and worked in that role for 30+ years in Rochester.  Later in life Scott was a driver for Textile Care Services in Rochester until his retirement.  Scott was married on October 25, 1985 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester to Shelli A. Swenson.  Following their marriage the couple lived in Stewartville, where they raised their children and lived for many years.  They were later divorced.  

He was a past member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Stewartville. Scott kept his faith throughout his life and read his Bible often.  Scott was a man of many talents and interests.  Scott was never afraid to tackle projects around the house or lend a hand to shingle a roof.  Many of the skills that Scott learned were passed down to his children.  Scott had a strong work ethic.  He was a master of several crafts and always willing to lend a hand to help.  Scott enjoyed motorcycling, Corvettes & Cadillacs, nature walks, throwing football, grilling, playing volleyball, and snowmobiling.  He also enjoyed fishing and was a Vikings fan.  Scott loved classic rock.  It was a rare occasion to not hear classic rock in the background when working around the house with Scott.  Humorously, there were some songs that prompted a response from Scott to drop tools to either turn up or down the radio.  A musical group that always acquired his attention to increase volume was Fleetwood Mac.  His son & daughter will dearly miss the conversations mixed with classic rock music. 

Scott is survived by his daughter – Sarah(Alec) Schumacher and grand-daughters – Luca, Remy and Eden of Byron, MN and his son – Spencer Wright (Mickala Morinville) of Rochester; his mother – Ramona Wright of Kasson and Shelli Wright of Rochester;  3 brothers - Tom(Cindy) Wright of New Smyrna Beach, FL; Bill(Vicki) Wright of Rochester and Todd Wright of Mantorville, MN and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father - Bill Wright.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 4:00 PM on Saturday (May 16, 2026) at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville. A private family burial will follow at High Forest Cemetery in High Forest, MN. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray FH in Stewartville.
