Ronald "Ron" Boone

Ronald “Ron” Boone, 85, a longtime Grand Meadow and Racine,MN area farmer, passed away peacefully, of natural causes, on Sunday (October 4, 2026) at his son’s home in Racine.

Ronald James Boone was born on June 18, 1941 in Sheldon,IA to Martin and Rose (Heimenson) Boone. He grew up in rural Matlock,IA , attended school there and moved with his family in his teens, to rural Stewartville,MN. He graduated from Stewartville HS in 1959 and while a member of the Stewartville FFA, won honors at the State FFA competition as an All-American Farmer during the pig raising judging. He began farming for family and a neighbor in Racine when he met the love of his life - Judy. Ronald was married on October 21, 1960, at Racine United Methodist Church in Racine to Judith E. Alink. The couple lived in Racine before moving to Grand Meadow where they raised their children and lived for over 40 years.  Ron was a farmer and also was employed at Midwest Breeders in Stewartville until his retirement. He then was employed part-time at Grand Meadow Veterinary Clinic for a few years. Judy was a homemaker and an Avon Lady for a number of years until her retirement. The Boones moved into Stewartville in 2014.                                                                        

Ron was a past member of the Racine United Methodist Church and was a longtime member of Grand Meadow UMC. He and Judy had recently been attending services at Stewartville UMC. Ron enjoyed traveling with Judy to see much of the USA, including boat tours in Alaska and a trip to London. He was a fan of International Harvester tractors and followed  Cleveland Indian baseball. He enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors and loved time spent with family and going to his children and grandchildren’s school and sporting activities.

Ron is survived by his wife of 66 years, Judy; 1 daughter and 2 sons -  Steven (Tammy) Boone of Racine; Alan (Jill) Boone of Swisher,IA and Danelle (Jody) Bessert of Silverdale,WA; his six grandchildren - Ben (Elaine) Boone, Katie Boone, Kelsey Boone, Kieran (Colby) Bessert, Carter Bessert and Abigal Boone; his three great – grandchildren -  David Boone, Annabelle Boone, and Rowan Bessert. He was preceded in death by his  grand-daughter -Emily Rose Bessert, his parents and two brothers – Clyde Boone and Melvin Boone.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday (October 10, 2026) at Stewartville United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Goeldi officiating. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday morning. Burial will be at Racine Salem Cemetery in rural Racine.
