Robert “Bob” Schoeppner, 80, of Stewartville, MN died on Monday, October 2, 2023 of natural causes, surrounded by his loving family at home.
Robert Vincent Schoeppner was born on December 24, 1942 in Templeton, IA to Vincent and Ruby(Farrell) Schoeppner. He moved with his family as a young boy to Missouri, and then to Chatfield, MN before the family settled in Stewartville. Bob graduated from Stewartville HS in 1961. He was employed at Just Rite Foods in Rochester for 30 years as a grocery manager. Robert was married on July 31, 1963 in Rochester, MN to Stella M. Schneiter. Following their marriage the couple lived in Rochester and Stewartville, where they raised their four children. They were later divorced. Bob was married on September 16, 1978 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Byron, MN to Margaret H. Conway. They lived in Byron, MN before moving to Faribault, MN where they made their home for 20 years. Bob was employed as a grocery manager at Food Bonanza and later Nelson’s Foods in Faribault until his retirement. Margaret was employed at the Municipal Liquor Store in Byron and with District One Hospital Nutritional Services in Faribault until her retirement. They moved to Stewartville in 2013 and have lived there since. Bob was a past member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Faribault and currently a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Stewartville. He was a longtime member of the Eagles in Rochester, where he volunteered, marched as a clown in parades, and league bowled for 30 years. He also shot pool in the D&R Star League for many years. Bob and Margaret enjoyed many summers at the camper on Roberds Lake in Faribault. He was an avid fisherman, reader of mysteries and westerns, gardener, and jigsaw puzzle whiz. He was passionate about watching sports, and an enduring memory of Bob is finding him in his living room watching the Twins and Vikings. Family was the most important thing to Bob; he was the family communications hub, and always loved sharing information between - and about - his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors and time spent with his dog Abby.
