Paul H. Toogood, 78, a longtime Stewartville, MN resident went home to be with the Lord on Thursday (October 14, 2021) at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a 2 year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Paul Henry Toogood was born on February 13, 1943 in Fillmore County, MN to Francis “Bud” and Eileen (Klomps) Toogood. He graduated from Stewartville H.S. in 1961. He enlisted into the US Air Force serving 4 years as an aviation mechanic. Following his discharge he returned to Stewartville. Paul married on January 19, 1968 in Rochester, MN to Rosalyn “Rosie” Schaefer. Paul was a longtime employee at Crenlo in Rochester in their Emcor Division until his retirement in 2009. Rosie was employed as a para-professional at Bonner Elementary in Stewartville for 32 years until her retirement in 2010. Paul had a strong faith and was a founding member of the Stewartville Christian Church where he served as treasurer for many years. He was actively involved in church activities and maintenance. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with family.
Paul is survived by his wife of 53 years – Rosie; 2 daughters - Kristy (Zane) Zodrow of Rochester and grandchildren – Zak, Zeke and Zoey and Paula (Andy) Berry and grandchildren – Melia and Cayman of Austin,TX; 2 sisters and 1 brother – Darlene (John) Welch of rural Stewartville; Jerry (Lillian) Toogood of Stewartville and Carolyn Wicks of Lakeville, MN and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and most recently his brother-in-law Curtis Wicks.
A private family memorial service for Paul will be held at a later date at Stewartville Christian Church with Pastors David and Becky Hoot officiating. Paul’s family requests that no flowers be sent at this time. Memorials are suggested to Stewartville City Hall to the Paul Toogood Memorial Bench Fund for a bench at Sunset Prairie or to Cancer Research at Mayo Clinic.
