Nancy F. Momeny

Nancy  F. Momeny, 90, of Mazzepa,MN, formerly a Stewartville,MN resident passed away on Sunday (September 20, 2020) of natural causes at  Homestead Senior Care in Rochester,Mn, where she had been a resident for 1 month.                          

Nancy Faye Reeser was born on August 25, 1930 in Sublette,IL to Charles and Grace(Keeler) Reeser, joining her sisters – Bonnie and Norma. She grew up in Mendota,IL, where she attended school, graduating from Mendota H.S. in 1948. She attended N. Illinois University where she earned  a teaching degree and met Benton Packer. Nancy was married on August 16, 1952 in Mendota to Ben Packer. The couple moved  to Coon Rapids,MN in 1962,  where they lived for a few years before moving to Palo Alto,CA all while raising “ Their 3 Sons” – Perry, Timothy and Joel. Ben died unexpectedly of a heart attack at the age of 42 in 1972. Nancy was a single mom, while teaching 1st grade at Eisenhower Elementary School in Coon Rapids until her retirement in 1980. She was married  that same year to William Momeny. Following their wedding the couple moved to Mendota,IL where they lived for a number of years. Mr. Momeny died in 1998. Nancy moved to Stewartville in 2004 to live near her son Joel and his family, and  followed them again in 2020, after they moved to Mazeppa, Mn in 2016. She was a past member and active volunteer of the United Methodist Church in Mendota and at the Mendota Public Library. She was an avid reader and was a regular at the Stewartville Public Library. Nancy absolutely stopped at every garage sale she passed. She was a very gifted cross stitcher and basket weaver. Her baskets are works of art. She was always up for a game of cards and a drinkie at precisely 5 P.M.

Nancy is survived by her 3 sons – Perry(Janet) Packer of Missoula,MT; Timothy(Mary) Packer of Rockford,IL and Joel(Barbie) Packer of Mazeppa,MN;  5 grandchildren –  Kelly Packer(Adrian Kien), Shannon Packer(Dan Foy), Ben Packer(Tasha Lyons), Ryan Packer and Sara(Chase) Kelly; 7 great–grandchildren –   Mara, Greyson, Logan, Weston, Merckx, Archer and Sidney;  her sister – Norma Ball of Souix Falls,SD and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands – Benton Packer and William Momeny, her parents and sister -Bonnie Besenfelder

 A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 5 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday (Sept. 28, 2020) at Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville,MN.  A committal service  and burial will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday (September 29, 2020) at Morningside Chapel and CemeteryHope  in Coon Rapids,MN.  Memorials are suggested to Alzheimers Research.
