Linda J. Ferguson Obituary

Linda Joyce Ferguson, 55, of Stewartville, MN, passed away peacefully with family by her side, on Thursday( August  23,  2018) following a short illness with cancer, at Seasons Hospice in Rochester, MN, where she had been a resident for one week. 

Linda was born on May 31, 1963 in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada to Wayne and Carol (Mason) Evans. She is a graduate of White Pines Collegiate in 1981.  Linda began her career in nursing, first graduating from Sault College, and then earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Lake Superior State University in 1996.  That was a big year for Linda,  she married Ewan Ferguson on July 13, 1996, and they moved to Stewartville  in October 1996, as Linda had accepted a nursing position at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  Linda specialized in medical cardiac nursing, cardiac critical care unit, and Heart Rhythm Services.

Linda's beautiful smile lit up every room she entered, and her compassion for her fellow human beings, combined with her fierce advocacy for her patients gained her the respect and love of her patients and her colleagues.  She was a beautiful, loving, caring spirit, strong and kind, perfectly suited to her chosen profession, which she loved. Linda loved and lived her life to the fullest.  She cherished time spent with her family and friends, and was especially proud of her three grandchildren.  Linda also enjoyed an active lifestyle of cycling, running, swimming, skiing, and yoga. 

Linda will be greatly missed by all who knew her, and whose lives she touched.  Survived by her husband of 22 years, Ewan;  her parents Wayne and Carol Evans of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario; her son Alex of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario;  her sister Valerie Evans (Peter MacPhail) of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, her brother David (Jill) Evans of St. Catharines, Ontario; her brother Allan Evans of Penticton, British Columbia, Canada; nieces Mandy,  Melissa, Emily; nephews Allen, Steven, Tyler, Jacob, Jamie, Ryan, Greg;  sister-in-law Margaret (Eric) Broman; brother-in- law Elliot (Deirdre) Ferguson; brother-in-law Andrew (Joy) Ferguson; mother-in-law Margaret Ferguson. Linda was preceded in death by grandparents William and Anne Mason, Ernie and Elsie Evans and father-in-law  James Ferguson.

Linda has three grandchildren who have a special place in her heart, Sidney (daughter of Hannah Tesmer, Millville, Minnesota), Bane (son of April Meyers, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario), and Alice (daughter of Ryce Forsyth, Sault Ste, Marie, Ontario.

Linda and her family would like to thank her many friends for their support, especially Carol Sonnier, Cheryl Terhaar, and Marny Harrison for always being there through the years. Also thanks to the nurses at Seasons Hospice who tenderly cared for Linda in her final days, especially Julie, Siirpa, Breanne, Michelle, Kenneth, Annie.   Linda is a loving, caring, beautiful soul.  Keep her gently in your thoughts, and tenderly in your heart.

In keeping with Linda’s wishes no services are planned  at  this time. A family memorial service will take place in Canada at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to Seasons Hospice in Rochester, MN.
