Justin L. Kime Obituary

The Mass and Christian Burial of Justin L. Kime, 21, of Stewartville, MN, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 22, 2019 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Stewartville with Rev. Kevin Connolly and Rev. John Wilmot officiating.  Justin passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2019 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident that morning.   

 Justin Leonard Kime was born on September 17th, 1997 in Rochester, MN to Brad and Pam (Burns) Kime. He grew up in Stewartville and attended school there graduating with honors in 2016 from Stewartville High School. He bowled competitively in high school and was a member of the Stewartville High School Tigers 2013 MN State Championship team. Justin attended the University of Northern Iowa where he was a junior in the Management Information Systems (MIS) program and the current Vice President of the MIS Association. He regularly made the Dean’s List, sang in the Men’s Glee Club and was a Resident’s Hall Assistant during his sophomore year. Justin was a lifelong member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Stewartville where he developed a deep faith in the Lord. He was a member of St. Bernard’s youth group and attended several Catholic conferences throughout his high school and college careers. As a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus Chapter at UNI, Justin led a Bible study group at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Justin was employed as an intern at John Deere in Cedar Falls as part of its tactical supply team, a job he truly loved. His passions included bowling, playing video games, and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs as their biggest fan. He had an eye for photography and contributed sports photos to the UNI campus paper – the Northern Iowan. Justin enjoyed hanging out with his many friends and loved spending time at French Lake with family and friends during the summers. He loved coming home to be with his Mom, Dad and Karissa.

Justin is survived by his mother and father – Pam and Brad and twin sister – Karissa of Stewartville; brothers – Brandon (Jennifer) Kime and niece – Hannah of Duluth, MN and Jamey (Angela) Kime and nieces – Annika and Jenna of Stewartville; grandparents – Carlton and Deanna Burns of Stewartville; grandmother – Marlys Kime of Austin, MN; girlfriend – Hannah James of Rochester and her grandparents and Justin’s adoptive grandparents –Carl and Evelyn Boice of Cedar Falls; 1 aunt – Laurie (Robert) Hoffman of Cedar Falls and 3 uncles - Steven (Barbara) Kime of Austin, MN; Mike (Dawn) Burns and Brad (Tammy) Burns both of Stewartville, MN and his many cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandfather – Duane Kime and his great grandparents.

A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 21st at St. Bernard’s Church following a Rosary service at 3:30 p.m.  A second visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at St. Bernard’s Church. Burial will immediately follow at the church cemetery. Family requests memorials be sent to the Knights of Columbus Chapter, Saint Stephen’s Catholic Church and the Mens Glee Club all at the University of Northern Iowa in ‘Memory of Justin Kime’.
