Julie K. Richardson, 65, of rural Stewartville,Mn, died suddenly on Saturday (March 20, 2021) at her home, from complications of a congenital heart condition.
Julie Kay Kohlmeyer was born on February 18, 1956 in Preston,MN to Albert and Geraldine( Follensbee) Kohlmeyer. She grew up on the family farm in rural Chatfield,Mn, attended Chatfield H.S., graduating in 1974. She attended Rochester Vocational – Technical School earning her certification in it’s secretarial program and was employed at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Julie was married on September 10, 1983 in Chatfield to Ronald Richardson. Following their marriage the couple lived in rural Stewartville, where they have continued to make their home. Julie was a longtime employee at Mayo Clinic for over 35 years as an administrative secretary. Ron was owner and operator of Ron’s Custom Woodworking and was employed for a number of years with Aswegan Cabinets. Julie was a past member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chatfield, First Baptist Church in Stewartville and was currently a member of High Forest Community Church. She was a member of Gideons International. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, canning, baking and biking and flying with Ron in their airplane and taking trips with Ron. Julie loved time spent with her large family and was known for her thoughtfulness by sending cards on special occasions or during tough times.
Julie is survived by her husband – Ron; 4 sisters and 2 brothers – Charlotte Kohlmeyer of Chatfield; Charles(Josie) Kohlmeyer of Chatfield; Susan Kurtzhals of Rochester; Peter(his fiancé – Sue) Kohlmeyer of Rosemount,MN; Nancy(Butch) Owens of Pine Island,MN ; Sally(Craig) Johnson of Rochester and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her parents and brother-in –law – David Kurtzhals.
Due to COVID protocols and safe distancing, a private family funeral service will take place on Saturday( March 27, 2021) at the High Forest Community Church in High Forest with Rev. Marcus Quam officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Pleasant Grove,MN. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 4 to 8:00 P.M on Friday at Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville. Masks and safe social distancing procedures will be in place.
