Judy (Wenzel) DeYoung passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from long-term complications of Dementia/Alzheimer’s at the Spring Valley Care Center where she had resided since 2020.
Judy was born in Eureka, SD on October 13, 1937, to Otto and Erna (Isaak) Wenzel. She grew up in Austin, MN for most of her youth. She attended Austin Public Schools and graduated in 1956. In 1957, she and Gary Price were united in marriage and resided in Austin, MN. They were blessed with four children, Penny, Tammy, Lori and Daniel. She was a stay-at-home mom until the family moved to Spring Valley, MN in 1976 where she was employed at the local clinic. In subsequent years she worked at IBM, then Mayo Clinic for a few years. Judy and Gary were later divorced.
Judy married Donald DeYoung in 1991, and they shared 22 years together. The couple lived in Dexter, MN for several years, then Austin, MN. Mr. DeYoung died on April 21, 2014. Judy and Don loved traveling in their RV down south for the winter months. Her passion was music and singing. She also loved her flowers, especially roses, sewing her children’s clothes, knitting, crocheting, and had a special talent for decorating cakes.
Judy’s family appreciates the kind and caring staff at Spring Valley Care Center and St. Croix Hospice.
Judy is survived by her daughters, Penny (Randy) Ness of Spring Valley, MN, Tammy (Michael) Troska of Stewartville, MN, and Lori (David) Reuter of Rose Creek, MN; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Don, her son Daniel Price, her siblings Arlene Borchard, Warren Wenzel, Rod Wenzel and David Wenzel.
A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 10 AM until noon on Wednesday (August 19, 2026) at Florence Park Pavilion in Stewartville. A private family prayer service will follow the visitation. Burial will be at Dexter Cemetery in Dexter,MN. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville.
