John B. Mestad, 56, of Stewartville,MN died on Monday (January 4, 2021) following a short illness at his home.
John Blaine Mestad was born July 23, 1964. He was the son of Blaine and Christiane(Charpetier ) Mestad. He grew up in Rochester and graduated from John Marshall H.S. in 1982. He enlisted into the US Marines serving 4 years. Following his discharge he returned to Rochester, he bought and operated Brownies Gym. He lived in North Carolina for a brief time and then moved back to Minnesota. John received his Associates Degree in Nursing at RCTC and his Bachelors in Nursing at Augsburg in Rochester. He was employed as a RN at Mayo Clinic – St. Marys in the critical care Float Staff for 15 years. He was a very knowledgable and intuitive nurse. He treated his patients with dignity and respect and his patients loved him. Attending church services at Christ Community Church was an important part of John’s everyday life. This relationship with God was paramount in his daily life. Spending time with his family was another important aspect of John’s life. He treasured each moment with them. John was an avid outdoorsman ecspecially when doing it with his family. John was a fitness advocate who enjoyed working out while listening to a wide variety of music.He also was an avid reader. On top of all this, he was frugal and willing to help anybody with fixing anything. His skills were vast.
John is survived by his wife – Ruth; Children – Brandon, Angie, Rochelle, Amber and Aimee(Wesley)and 2 grandchildren – Arielle and Blaine, his mother – Christiane Mestad. He treasured his extended family. He was preceded in death by his father - Blaine Mestad.
Due to public health concerns no visitation or services will be held at this time. A private family burial with military graveside honors will take place at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston,MN. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville.
