The memorial service for Joanne Betty (Eaton) Harreld, 76, of Stewartville, MN, will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday (November 6, 2021) at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ in Pleasant Grove,MN with Rev. Lance Lorenz officiating. Mrs. Harreld went home to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday (October 22, 2021) surrounded by family. Joanne was suffering from a lengthy battle with cancer at the Stewartville Care Center, where she had been a resident since July of this year.
Joanne Betty Eaton was born on February 3, 1945 in Olivia, MN to Richard “Chief” and Elaine (Smith) Eaton. She grew up in Olivia and attended Bird Island High School, graduating in 1963. She moved to Stewartville in 1963. This is where Joanne met and married Dallas G. Harreld on October 2, 1965. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Rochester, MN before moving to Onalaska, WI and then Wilmar, MN. They were later divorced. Joanne was a homemaker and with Joanne’s love for visiting with people, was employed for many years with Costco as well as Walmart until her health kept her from working. Joanne was a member of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ in Pleasant Grove, MN. With Joanne’s love of adventure, she traveled around the Midwest to visit friends and family until finally settling back in Stewartville in 2015 to be near her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed boat rides with Monty and his family, going to her grandkids sporting and school events, watching game shows and the occasional trip to the casino. She loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joanne is survived by her son and daughter – Monty (Stephanie) Harreld of Onalaska, WI and Michelle (Philip) Martinez of Delhi, LA; 4 grandchildren – Tyler (Kaylee) Harreld and Lindsey (Andy) Gallagher and great-grandchildren – Evelyn, Wrenly and Calum ; Cody Merna and Dylan (Alexandra) Merna and great grandson – Marcelo; 2 sisters – Sharon (Keith) McAtee of Stewartville; Linda Wasko of La Crescent, MN and brother – Joe Eaton of Wisconsin Dells, WI. and many dear nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother - Richard “Butch” Eaton.
A time of visitation for family and friends will take place 1 hr. prior to the service at the church on Saturday morning. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville.
