Jean K. Sedgwick

Jean K. Sedgwick, 81, of Stewartville, MN, died on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Seasons Hospice in Rochester from complications related to a stroke.

Jean Kay Schramm was born on September 27, 1942, in Faribault, MN, to Elmer and Helen(Studer) Schramm. She attended Montgomery High School and Mankato State Teachers College.
In January 1964, while teaching in Roseville, MN, Jean met George Paul Sedgwick. They were engaged in April and married on December 19 of that same year. Upon George’s graduation from
veterinary school in 1967, they moved to Bristol, WI, where Jean taught home economics, and George worked as an assistant veterinarian. In 1970, the couple moved to Stewartville when
George purchased the Stewartville Veterinary Clinic. Shortly after, the couple welcomed their eldest daughter, Erin. Eleven years later, their second daughter, Katherine, was born. Jean
worked at Dayton’s Design Studio, Norwest Bank, and both Kasson Mantorville and Stewartville Schools. She was a member of the AAUW, Friends of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, the
Quilters’ Club, and the Rochester Figure Skating Club. She was a talented seamstress, quilter, knitter, gardener, cook, and baker.

Jean is survived by her daughters Erin (Todd) Bursch and Katherine (Keith) Weber, granddaughters Evelyn and Addison Weber, brother Wayne (Carol) Schramm, six nephews, and
one niece. Her husband George, her parents and brother James Schramm preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pleasant Valley, with Rev. Marc Freiberg Sr. officiating. A Celebration of Life
