Ingrid Oehlke Obituary

Ingrid A. Oehlke, 81, of rural Stewartville MN, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026, at her home with family by her side, following a short illness with cancer.

Ingrid Ann Titterington was born on September 28, 1944, in Ottumwa, Iowa to John and Rebecca (Edmund) Titterington. Ingrid spent her early years growing up in Bluegrass, Iowa along with her younger siblings Jane and John. It was there where the values indicative of small town - rural America were instilled in her and helped define who she became. In her teen years, the family moved to a farm near Pillager, Minnesota where younger sister Karen was born, completing the Titterington family. After graduating from Pillager High School, Ingrid attended and graduated from the Methodist Kahler R.N. School of Nursing in Rochester, MN. It was there she met her life-long friend Deidre Lindgren. Her career included hospital nursing and later, nursing administration and home health care. As a student at Methodist Kahler she met and married William Oehlke, a local farmer from the Stewartville area. She and Bill were blessed with a daughter, Ingrid “Ingie” Rebecca Oehlke.  It was on the family farm where Ingrid and Bill remained, sharing many farming adventures with Bill’s brother and partner - Chester and his family.

During Ingrid’s time on earth, she enjoyed and pursued many interests. Bill and Ingrid traveled the country together. She was a voracious reader and literally had her “nose in a book” most of the time. American History and Civics were her forte. Her love of music included all genres from classical to country western. Playing her piano exemplified her love of music. The only aspect of Ingrid’s life that defied all rationale was her fixation on Elvis Presley, “the greatest gospel singer” of all time. It was necessary to purchase a color TV to watch his Blue Hawaii concert in 1973 on NBC. Ingrid appreciated and followed ice skating, horseracing, and her beloved Minnesota Twins of which she was most definitely not a fair-weather fan.

Ingrid is survived by her daughter, Ingrid Rebecca, sisters Jane Tandy, Karen Bernau and brother John Titterington along with many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill in 2016 and her parents - John and Rebecca Titterington.

In keeping with Ingrid’s wishes, no services or visitation will take place. A burial and committal service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday,  August 7, 2026 at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, MN where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Bill. The Oehlke Family requests that instead of flowers, a donation in Ingrid’s memory be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray FH in Stewartville.
