Glennie E. Light, 99, a longtime Stewartville,MN resident, died on Thursday (April 8, 2021) of natural causes at Mayo Clinic Rochester – St. Marys Campus.
Glennie Esther Marie Marshall was born on February 27, 1922 in Mower County,MN to Raymond and Clara(Wyatt) Marshall. She grew up on the family farm and attended country school. She was married on August 16, 1941 in Stewartville to Hayden R. Light. The couple lived
in Stewartville where they raised their children. Glennie was a homemaker and was employed at Erdman Grocery store in Stewartville and as a cook with the Stewartville School District for a number of years until her retirement. Hayden was a self- employed mechanic and was employed as a custodian with the Stewartville School district until his retirement. Mr. Light died on August 14, 1995 and Glennie has continued to live in her own home. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Stewartville. Glennie enjoyed playing cards, knitting and time spent with her family especially her grandchildren and great - grandchildren.
She is survived by her son – Dennis Light(Lynn White) of Plainview,MN; 7 grandchildren – Jeremy Light, Josh Light, Matt Kernler, Brianna Kerns, Erik Horsman, Erin Warbois and Hayden Horsman; 6 great grandchildren – Kaitlyn Horsman, Peighton Warbois, Dane Warbois, Clara Warbois, Nolan Light and Sophia Light. She was preceded in death by her husband – Hayden and daughter – Patricia on December 13, 2020, her parents , 7 brothers – Homer, Marion, Farlow, Harry “Kenny”, Charles, Keith and Roy Marshall and infant sister- Vera.
The Memorial service for Glennie and her daughter Patricia will be at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday (May 22, 1921) at the United Methodist Church in Stewartville with Rev. Laura Nordstrom officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place 1 hr. prior to the service at the church.
