The Rite of Christian Burial for Genevieve “Genny” Loethen, 77, of Stewartville, MN will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday (June 15, 2018) at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Stewartville with Rev. John Wilmot officiating. Genny died on Saturday (June 9, 2018) of natural causes, surrounded by her loving family at her home.
Genevieve Florstine Belgarde was born in Belcourt, ND on November 27, 1940 to Frank and Mary Louise (St. Arnaud) Belgarde. She grew up in in Minot,ND where she attended school. Genevieve was married in Minot to Clayton Hansen. Following their marriage the couple lived in Minot, where they raised their family and lived for a number of years. They were later divorced. Genevieve was married in Minot to Harry Loethen. The couple moved to Missouri and then St. Cloud,MN, and were later divoriced. Genevieve was a homemaker until her children had grown and was then employed as a watch maker at Fingerhut Co. in St. Cloud for a number of years. She also was employed as a waitress at restaurants in the various towns where she lived. Genevieve enjoyed bingo, going to the casino, singing, playing guitar, cooking, collecting angels, crocheting and spending time with her loved ones.
Genevieve is survived by 1 daughter and 5 sons - Sue Tottingham of Stewartville; Clayton “Poncho” Hansen of Minot; Darrin(Sue) Hansen of Minot; Richard Hansen of Rochester; Dalen Hansen of Rochester and David “Bozie” Loethen of Rochester; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters - Stella (Jerry) Ness of Watertown,SD and Phyllis Allen of Phoenix,AZ; 1 sister-in-law - Linda Belgarde of Lathrop,CA; many nieces and nephews; step children - Roy (Becky) Loethen, Judy Ann Campo, Bessie Sandidge, Tina (Kevin) Smith all of Missouri; 6 step - grandchildren and 10 step – great - grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grand - daughter – Amanda, her parents, sister – Cecelia ‘Tiny” Belgarde and brothers - Pete Belgarde, David Belgarde, Richard “Blonde” Belgarde, and her special friend - Henry “Hankster” Stead.
A time of visitation will take place from 9:30 A.M. to the time of the service at the church on Friday morning. Burial will take place in Rosehill Cemetery in Minot, ND at a later date. On-line condolences are welcome at www.griffin-gray.com
