Eugene "Wes" Sosinske

Eugene “Wes” Sosinske, 99, of Rochester, formerly a longtime Stewartville, MN resident, passed away of natural causes on Monday (July 20, 2026) at Meadow Lakes Senior Living  in Rochester, MN.  

Eugene Wesley Sosinske was born on October 24, 1926, in Lind Center, WI to Felix and Sophia (Johnson) Sosinske. He grew up on the family farm, attended country school and graduated from Waupaca H S in 1945. He entered the US Army serving 2 years including duty overseas in Germany. Following his discharge in 1953 he returned to Wisconsin and was employed at the seed company in Waupaca, WI.  Wes was married to Mavis Brasch on April 11, 1953, in Weyauwega, WI. They lived in Waupaca until 1961 when they moved to Green Bay, WI where Wes was employed with Northrup King Seeds as a salesman. They moved to Stewartville, MN in 1969 where they raised their family and lived for many years. Wes had a long career in agriculture sales and was also employed with BASF Corp. Mavis was a homemaker and was also employed with the Stewartville School District offices and at Lake Center Industries in Stewartville. Following their retirements, Wes and Mavis spent their winters in southern Texas for several years.  Mavis passed away in September of 2002.

Wes was a longtime active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville, serving on the Church Council and as an usher. He continued to spend winters in Texas and he met Betty Delzer there. They were married in Waupaca, WI in 2006. They spent winters in Texas and most of the summer in Oconto, WI.  Betty passed away in December 2020. Following her death, Wes moved back to Stewartville and then to Rochester where he was a resident at Meadow Lakes Senior Living for the past 5 years.Wes enjoyed woodworking, playing cards and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He loved time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Wes is survived by his four children -  Jerry (Brenda) Sosinske of Edina,MN, Janet Sosinske of Eagan,MN, Julie (Mark) Arndorfer of Stewartville,MN and Jim (Natalie) Sosinske of Savage,MN; four grandchildren - Amanda (Luke) Hust, Alex (Rebecca) Arndorfer, Kira Sosinske and Ryan Sosinske and five great granddaughters -  Ashlyn, Harper, Ellie, Remi and Hadley. He is also survived by four stepchildren -  Donna, Scott, Lynn, Dan and their families and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wives  - Mavis and Betty, his parents and three siblings.

 A memorial service for Wes will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday (July 25, 2026) at Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville with Rev. Tim Bowman officiating. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place 1 hr. prior to the service. An ice cream social will immediately follow the service in the church fellowship hall. A private family committal service and burial beside Mavis will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray FH in Stewartville.
