Douglas D. Feine Obituary

The funeral service for Douglas D. Feine, 70, a longtime Stewartville, MN, area resident will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday (December 7, 2021) at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stewartville with Rev. Justin Kumfer officiating. Burial with military graveside honors by Stewartville American Legion Post 164 will follow at Union Cemetery in Pleasant Grove, MN. Doug died on Wednesday (December 1, 2021) from injuries suffered in an accident on the farm.

Douglas Donald Feine was born October 16, 1951, in La Crosse, WI, to Irvin and Marilyn (Luhmann) Feine. He grew up on the family farm in rural Rushford, MN, and attended Rushford H.S. graduating in 1969. He enlisted into the U.S Air Force where he was trained as an aviation mechanic. Douglas was married on June 6, 1970, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview, MN, to Beverly A. Zabel. Following his discharge in 1973, the young family moved from Duluth, MN, to Stewartville. Doug earned his boiler operator’s certification and was employed for 13 years at AMPI in Rochester, working in plant maintenance. Doug was then employed as Maintenance Coordinator at the opening of the new Olmsted Waste to Energy Facility and worked there for 28 years, retiring in 2015. Beverly was employed for 30 years at Minnesota Energy Resources in Rochester.

In 1988 the Feines moved East of Stewartville where they built a new home and began to farm. In 1998, they expanded their farming operation and formed a partnership with Eric and Kim (Feine Family Farms). Doug was a long-time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stewartville, serving on many boards, and currently was Director of Trustees. Doug enjoyed hunting and, following retirement, taking RV trips, including one to Alaska. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Doug is survived by his wife Beverly; son Eric (Kim) of rural Spring Valley, MN, and daughter Lesli (Chris) Nelson of Park Hills, MO; 4 grandchildren Autumn Feine, Samantha Feine, Allyson Nelson, and Chase Nelson; sisters Melanie (Herman) Laumb of Houston, MN, Anne (Dave) Dahlen of Zumbrota, MN, and brothers Calvin (Lynn) Feine of Stewartville and Dean (Laurie) Feine of Rushford, MN
