Deann M. Stowers

Deann  “Mama D”  Stowers, 29 (for the 25th year), of Racine, MN; passed away on Sunday, June 28th, 2020 of an apparent heart attack, at her home.

Deann Marie Olson was born on September 4th, 1965 in Superior, WI to Herbert and Donna Olson. She grew up in Superior and attended Superior Senior High.  She later attended Rochester Community and Technical College where she received her Nursing Assistant certificate. Deann was married in October of 1983 to Gerald “Jerry” Hammill. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Crosby, MN, where they raised their four children. They relocated to the Stewartville area in 1991. They were later divorced. Deann was remarried on July 10th, 1999 in Stewartville to Dana Stowers. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Racine where they continued to make their home. Deann was employed as a CNA at the Stewartville Care Center. She was owner and operator of The Wright Stuff Restaurant and Sky Shop at the Rochester International Airport for ten years. She owned and operated Skip N Dales Sports Bar in Stewartville and Mama D’s Restaurant in Racine. She had been employed for the past two years as a kitchen manager at Bear Cave Intermediate School in Stewartville. Deann was a past member of the Stewartville Area Chamber of Commerce, where she served as president. Deann was known everywhere she went and would always put a smile on your face. She was an avid Minnesota Vikings Fan - “My boys.” She enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, and was always surrounded by friends and family. Nana especially loved spending time with her grandbabies. “Gimme Love!”                 

Deann is survived by her husband, Dana and her four children – Joshua (Ashley) Hammill of Owatonna, MN; Kayla (Kane Aljets) of Kasson, MN; Kristy (Adam) Fretty of Racine, MN; and Taylor (Trevor) Lange of Chatfield, MN; step-daughter – Robin Stowers and step-son – Kevin Stowers both of Frankfurt, Germany; nine grandbabies - Kiersten, Hailey, Kameran, Madalynn, Carter, Tayte, Kaelynn, Aubrey and Hadley and her brother -  Herbert “Herbie” Olson of Superior, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandbaby - Koldynn.       

Mama D’s Celebration of  Life will take place on Saturday, July 11th, 2020 in Racine (301 Harrison Ave Racine, MN). Celebration to start at 1:30pm, however in Mama D’s normal fashion, the official start time will be 2pm. We all know she was a very punctual person.
