Daniel David Preuss, 52, of rural Racine, MN, died on Saturday (May 22, 2021) unexpectedly, from a cerebral hemorrhage, at Mayo Clinic Rochester – St. Marys Campus.

Dan was born on May 25, 1968, in Quinter, Kansas, to Pastor David and  Bette(Sauer) Preuss.  The Preuss Family moved to Jackson, MN in 1969 and to Stewartville, MN in 1978. After three years at Rochester Central Lutheran School, Dan transferred to Stewartville Junior High and graduated from S.H.S. in 1987, where he played defensive back on the Stewartville Tigers football team  as well as playing  basketball and high jumping on the track team. He completed three years in Mechanical Engineering at North Dakota State University  before attending Rochester Vocational Technical College earning his  automotive technician certification.  Dan was married on September 23 , 1995 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Stewartville to Sharon Yetter. They bought a hobby farm in Spring Valley where they resided for several  years.  In 2005, they built a home in rural Racine and raised their family which includes their daughter Alyssa (29), son Connor (20), and youngest daughter Brooklyn (8) and have continued to make their home there. He worked as a mechanic in local automotive shops including Spring Valley, Rochester, and Stewartville.  He went through the truck driving program at Riverland Technical College in Austin, MN and obtained his Commercial Drivers License.  His recent employment was driving truck with RMQ Inc ,  a contracter with Fed ex Ground.  He was proud to be a truck driver and loved his work.  Sharon is a longtime employee with Mayo Clinic in Rochester.

Dan was a past member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Stewartville and was currently attending services at Grace Evangelical Free Church in Stewartville.  Dan loved his family.  His greatest joys were his kids followed by mowing the lawn, working on his John Deere tractors, watching stand up comedy on TV, listening to classic rock for hours, being in the garage, and most recently working on jigsaw puzzles.  He was friendly and could have a conversation with anybody.  His laugh was infectious.  Dan was patient, kind, and dependable.
