Dale W. Carter

The funeral service for Dale W. Carter, 91 of McIntire, IA will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November  22, 2019 at Pleasant Grove Church of Christ in Pleasant Grove, MN with Rev. Lance Lorenz officiating. Mr. Carter died on Saturday, November 16,  2019 of natural causes at the Stewartville Care Center in Stewartville, MN where he had been a resident since March of 2018.                       

Dale William Carter was born in Riceville, IA on April 10, 1928 to Hugh and Helen (Fessenden) Carter.  He grew up on his parents farm in rural Colwell, IA, attended school and graduated from Colwell in 1946. He entered the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean Conflict. Dale was married on November 20, 1950 to Lorraine I. DeVries, while stationed in Norfolk, VA. Following Dale’s discharge, the couple moved to Colwell where they farmed and raised their family for the next 16 years. The Carter Family moved to Red Wing, MN where they owned and operated the King Koin Laundromat for 8 years. In 1976, Dale and Lorraine moved to the Carter Family farm near McIntire, IA where they farmed until their retirement. Dale and Lorraine attended Pleasant Grove Church of Christ and eventually moved to Stewartville in 2016 to live near family. Dale enjoyed traveling with his wife, fishing and hunting, and taking care of their faithful animal companions on the farm. He loved visiting with friends and time spent with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Dale is survived by his  daughter - Connie (Tom) Mariette of Prescott, WI; daughter-in-law - Pamela (Jerry) Wendt of Spring Valley, MN;  his grandchildren - Tim (Kris) Mariette of River Falls, WI; Dustin (Susanna) Mariette of Faribault, MN, Daniel (Sydney) Mariette of Maplewood, MN; Lucas (Hannah) Carter of Rochester, MN and Shane (Carlee) Carter of Pine Island, MN, and great-grandchildren -  Adeline, Eugene, Charles and Cason. He was preceded in death by his wife – Lorraine, their son – Jerry, his parents and sister – Dorothy.

A time of visitation will take place from 10:00 A.M. to  the time of service at the church on Friday morning. Burial and a committal service will take place at 2:00 P.M. on Friday afternoon at Wayne Cemetery in McIntire, IA. Condolences  and memories of Dale are welcome at www.griffin-gray.com
