Carter A. Taylor Obituary

Carter A. Taylor, 14, of Stewartville, MN, formerly of Duluth, MN died on Sunday (February 4, 2024) at his home, unexpectedly, following a short illness, from unknown medical causes.

Carter Alfred Taylor was born on March 17, 2009 in Duluth, MN to Nikki Jones and Gerald Taylor Jr. Carter is a descendant of the Fond du Lac(Nagaajiwanaang,”where the water stops”) band of the Lake Superior Chippewa Tribe. He moved with his mother and sisters to Rochester, MN where he attended school. They then relocated to Stewartville in 2022, being a freshman at Stewartville High School at the time of his passing. Carter began working last summer at Fareway Foods in Stewartville and enjoyed it immensely.  He could often be seen riding his bike to and from work. He found passions in art, drawing, reading, painting, playing video games, and golfing with his Dad. Carter loved his large family residing in northern Minnesota.  He had a unique and special bond with his father.  He was a proud brother to 4 sisters and he doted on them.  His sisters found safety and security in having such an involved brother.   Love could be seen pouring from him by the excitement he had for every opportunity to help those he cared about. Despite his autism diagnosis, he was navigating life like every teenager. Given his diagnosis, finding friends could be difficult.  He managed to create close bonds in Stewartville with his best friend Xavier, as well as Zach and Ryder. His infatuation with coffee helped fuel his zeal for life.  When debating with Carter, you would often hear his preparatory phrases, “well technically...” and “umm, actually…”  Carter will be greatly missed.

Carter is survived by his mother - Nikki Jones(Kyle Splittstoesser) of Stewartville and his father - Gerald Taylor Jr. of Moose Lake, MN; his sisters -  Adrian Olson , Alice Jones , River Jones and Sienna Mackey all at home in Stewartville and  his  grandparents -  Debra Jackson (Les Conway) of Rochester, MN;  Andrew(Sharon) Olson of Duluth, MN;  Patricia Maciewski of Cloquet, MN and Gerald Taylor Sr, of Duluth, MN and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
