Carol J. Louks

Carol J.  Louks, 85, of Stewartville,MN, died on Monday (April 22, 2024) family by her side, of natural causes,  at the Stewartville Care Center where she had resided since September 2022.

Carol Jean O’Groske was born in Wells, MN on February 21, 1939 to Walter and Nelda (Klatt) O’Groske. She grew up in Wells and Ostrander,MN where she attended school, graduating from Leroy-Ostrander HS in 1957?   She moved to Minneapolis where she lived for a short time. Carol was married on July 16, 1960 in Mason City,IA. to Don Torsch. Following their marriage the couple moved to Stewartville and they were later divorced. Carol was a homemaker, raising her 3 children and was employed part-time in the bakery at Boyums Foods and in food service with  the Stewartville Care Center and Central Elementary School in Stewartville. Carol was married  to Darrell Louks on December 28, 1989 and they made their home in Dodge Center,Mn. Mr. Louks died in1991.                                                                                                                                   

She was a past member of Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville and was a Boy Scout and Girl Scout Den mother when her kids were in scouting. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts, playing cards and games, was an excellent baker and followed the Twins and Vikings. She loved time spent wither large family and especially enjoyed camping with her family and going to sporting events for her children and grandchildren.

Carol is survived by her  1 daughter and 2 sons - Scott Torsch of Le Roy MN, Brenda (Joel) Bell of Stewartville MN, Steve Torsch of Dodge Center MN; 4 grandchildren - Eric Bell of Stewartville, Madison Torsch of Hayfield MN, Makailah Torsch(Benjamin Dumbek) of Nisswa,MN, Marshall Torsch of Dodge Center; 2 great grand-children -  Eliseo and Royce Barbosa; 3 Sisters - Maggie O’Groske (Rob Wigda) of St. Paul MN, Marlys (LeRoy) Rowe of Wykoff MN, Betty (Larry) Boehmer of Waconia, Sister-in-law Bernice O’Groske of Rochester, Sister-in-law Charlene O’Groske of Ostrander MN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Darrell Louks; her parents; Step-mother Bertha (Burma) O’Groske; 5  Brothers  -Marvin, Walter, Rolland, Melvin and Randy O’Groske;  2 Sisters Diane Smith, Sue Ann O’Groske, and Sister-in-law Alice O’Groske.

A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 5 to 7:00 PM on Monday (April 29, 2024) at Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville. A private family burial will take place at a later date.
