Carol A. Meyer Obituary

The funeral service for Carol A.  Meyer, 85, of Byron,Mn will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday (August  24, 2019) at South Zumbro Lutheran Church in rural Kasson, MN with Rev. Pete Wyttenbach and Rev. Jordan Meyer officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Meyer died on Monday( August 19, 2019 )  of natural causes at Madonna Towers Skilled Care in Rochester,Mn where she had been a resident since March.

Carol Ann Meyer was born on February 25, 1934  in Cresco,IA  to Paul and Pearl(Leutink) Ruesink. She grew up on the family farm in rural Cherry Grove,Mn  and attended  Wykoff  H.S. graduating in 1951. Carol was married on March 8, 1952 at the Evangelical United Bretheran Church in Cherry Grove,MN to Robert D. Meyer.  Following their marriage the couple lived in England where Bob was serving in the U.S. Air Force. Following Bob’s discharge  they returned and lived in Rochester,MN.  Carol was a  homemaker and care-giver and  also was  employed at Worall Hospital in Rochester. She waitressed at various restaurants in Rochester and was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Madonna Towers  for a number of years.  The Meyer family moved to rural Byron in 1968, where they continued to make their home for many years. In 1973, they started Bob’s Countryside  Electric, which Bob and Carol owned and operated for 35 years. Carol was  an active member of South Zumbro Lutheran Church serving with it’s Ladies Circles and was a member of the Byron American Legion Post 119  Ladies Auxillary. She and Bob were members of the S.E. Minnesota Saddle Club and  raised and showed quarter horses for a number of years. Carol was famous for her made from scratch cinnamon rolls that she donated to the Sisters of St. Marys Fall Bazaar and to fundraisers at South Zumbro Church. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and canning, baking, cooking and was an avid Twins fan. Carol always enjoyed visiting with friends and loved  time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great- grandchildren.

Carol is survived by 3 daughters and 2 sons  – Bridget(Don) Bubendorf of Rochester; Robert Meyer Jr. of Byron; Jeff(Deb) Meyer of Mantorville; Sherri(Fred) Diercks of Zumbro Falls,Mn and Deb(Mike) Yennie of Park Rapids,MN; 12 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren; her brother – Richard(Gwen) Ruesink of Spring Valley,MN and many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her husband – Robert and her  parents.

A time of visitation will take place on Friday (August  23, 2019) from 5 to 7:00 P.M. at Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville and 1 hour prior to the service at South Zumbro Lutheran Church  on Saturday morning.
