Alta A. Morris

The funeral service for Alta A. Morris, 91, of Stewartville, Mn .will be at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Griffin - Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville with Rev. David Hoot officiating. Burial will follow at Douglas Cemetery in Douglas,Mn. Mrs. Morris died on Tuesday - September 4, 2012 of natural causes at the Stewartvile Care Center, where she had been a resident since 2009.

Alta Augusta Felt was born April 14, 1921 in rural Pine Island. She grew up on the family farm, attended rural school in the Pine Island and Chatfield areas. Alta was married on June 26, 1941 in Albert Lea,Mn. to Wayne R. Morris. Following their marriage the couple farmed in the Pine Island and Douglas area and Mr. Morris operated a cabinet shop until he retired in 1981 due to ill health. They moved to Stewartville in 1984 and Mr. Morris died on December 27, 1984. Mrs. Morris continued to make Stewartville her home and lived at the Stewartvilla Apts. for 27 years. Alta loved music and played keyboard in Mels Polka Stars Band for years. She and Wayne enjoyed dancing, horseback riding and agate hunting. In recent years she enjoyed crafts ,traveling with the band and time spent with friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

Alta is survived by 2 sons – Terry(Denise) of Culbertson, Neb. and grandchildren – David, Steven, Sean and Nathan Morris/ Eugene of Byron,Mn. and grandchildren – Mindy(Christopher) Henning and great grandaughters - Noelle, Kaylee and Cara of St. Joseph,Ill./ Kassie Morris and great granddaughter –Abbie of Byron/ David, Steven, Sean and Nathan Morris and 1 sister – Ella(Dale) Stuve of Show Lo, Az./ She was preceded in death by her husband- Wayne, her son – Kenneth and a sister and brother.

Friends may call 1 hr. prior to the service on Saturday morning at Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville.
