Patricia Ann Griffin was born on September 16, 1929 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester,MN to Patrick and Margaret(Tharalson) Griffin. She grew up in Stewartville where she attended school, graduating from Stewartville H.S. in  1947. She entered St. Marys School of Nursing in Rochester,MN graduating with her RN degree. With wings on her heels, she moved with some fellow students to California where she was employed as a nurse at the VA Hospital in Los Angles for a year, then returning to Stewartville and employment as a nurse at St. Marys  Hospital in Rochester. In 1954 Tris’s wings took her to New Haven,CT, where she roomed with nurse friends and was employed as a nurse at Grace New Haven Hospital, was a visiting nurse (VN) in the Bronx in NY City and earned her Bachleors Degree in Nursing at New Haven State Teachers College. In 1956, Tris was married to 1st/Lt. Virgil Loken(USAF) at St. Patricks Cathedral in New York City. Lars, born and raised in Byron,Mn, had a 20 year career as a jet pilot in the US Air Force and his family followed him to many different assignments – daughter Ann was born in Wareham,Mass, James in Walter Reed,DC, Mike in Japan and Matt and Eric in Wichita,KS. In 1972, the Loken family moved to Lompoc,CA where Lars ended his career at Vandenberg Air Force Base, retiring in 1978. Tris was a past VN in Solvang,CA and volunteered as a docent at the Crocker Art Museum for over 17 years and always raved about it’s wonderful staff. Tris was a very interested listener, who never spoke ill of anyone, nor would she pass on gossip. She always saw the bright side of people, a priceless gift to emulate.
