Marian Johnson Obituary

The funeral service for Marian E. Johnson ,96, a longtime Racine, MN resident will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday(October 25th,2018) at the United Methodist Church in Racine  with Rev. Bridget Sheely officiating.  Mrs. Johnson died of natural causes at the Stewartville Care Center where she had been  resident since March of this year.

Marian Eleanor Glover was born on February 26,1922 to Harry and Daisy Glover in Racine, MN. She grew up on the Glover family farm and attended Racine and Stewartville schools, graduating from Stewartville H.S. in 1940.  Marian was married on December 28, 1941 in Spring Valley, MN to Emmett S. Johnson.  After their marriage the couple lived in Racine where Emmett was employed at the Racine Co-op Creamery. In 1943, the couple moved to Seattle, WA where Emmett was employed at Boeing Aircraft. In 1944 he enlisted into the U.S. Army serving for 2 years. After his discharge the Johnsons moved back to Racine where they raised their six sons. Marian was a homemaker and Emmett began working for the former Stewartville Farmers Elevator, now the All-American Co-op in 1957, retiring as an assistant manager in 1985.  Mr. Johnson died on April 10, 1995. Marian was a longtime active member of Racine United Methodist Church where she served on many committees through the years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, camping, fishing, rummage sales, and watching the Minnesota Twins. Marian loved spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Marian is survived her 5 sons; Robert Lee (Paulette) Johnson of Racine, Douglas Van (Jo) Johnson of Racine; Dennis Lynn (Mary) Johnson of Ft Myers,FL; Alan Sherwood(Patricia) Johnson of Winona,Mn; Scott Julius (Nancy Majerus) Johnson of  Racine; 12 Grandchildren: Tawny(Bill) Amos) , Jay Johnson, Carrie(Tony) Stanislawski, Tim (Julie) Johnson, Ben(Cherie) Johnson, Marty Johnson( Jodi Reiland), Sarah(Ray) Pedraja, Jennifer( Jonathan) Turner, Michelle Grenier, Emily(Christopher)Tyler, and Kristin(Brandon) Thoennes;  18 Great -grandchildren: Jacob and Mikya Amos, Kinsley and Carter Johnson,Taylor and Dylan Stanislawski ,Braydon, Drew, and Kolby Johnson, Julien Audetat, Michael Johnson, Lucy and Gabriel Pedraja, Emmalyn and Eleanor Turner, Mason, Zoe, and Caiden Grenier, and Jeffrey Tyler. Siblings; Harriet Sullivan, Fran Gentling, Wesley(Karen) Glover, all of Rochester Mn; Marjorie Koch of Walker, MN. and brother- in - law - Joyce Johnson of Racine and many neices and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, Emmett, her parents, son (Barry Lee), granddaughter, Jacqueline Johnson, and great grandson, Ryan Stanislawski, and brother, Franklin ''Buddy'' Glover.

A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday (October 24,2018) at Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday morning. A private family burial will take place at Hamilton Cemetery in rural Racine. Marian's family suggests memorials to Racine United Methodist Church.
