Margaret (Koebke) Bradbury Obituary

Margaret (Koebke) Bradbury, 79, of  Rochester,MN passed away on Friday (May 3, 2019) due to kidney failure at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Margaret Marie Affeldt was born on April 30, 1940 in Fillmore County,MN to Edwin and Sophia(Horstman) Affeldt. She grew up on the family farm in rural Wykoff, attended school, graduating from Wykoff H.S. in 1958. Margaret was married on March 1, 1960 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua,IA to John Koebke. Following their marriage the couple lived in  Spring Valley,MN where they raised their family and lived for many years. Margaret was a homemaker and was employed as a cook at the Spring Valley Hospital and Spring Valley Care Center for 14 years. John was employed for 30 years at Reddi- Mix Concrete in Spring Valley and was plant manager when his health caused his retirement. As his health began to fail, Margaret stayed at home to care for her husband. Mr. Koebke died on June 27, 1990. Margaret was a past member of  First English Lutheran Church in  Spring Valley. She was married to Samuel Bradbury for 2 months until his death on  January 3, 1992.  Margaret moved to Rochester in 2002  to live with her daughter. She was employed at Samaritan Bethany Home in Rochester for 12 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester for a number of years. Margaret loved to cook and followed the Twins and Vikings. She got interested in hockey when her grandson began playing. While watching sports she would knit and always had many projects going at once. Margaret  enjoyed visiting with friends and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.           

Margaret is survived by 2 sons and 1 daughter – Michael of Rapid City,SD ; Steven(Barb) of rural Spring Valley,MN ; Luann Therneau of Rochester and daughter-in-law – Amy Koebke of Bemidji,MN; 6 grandchildren –  Cody(Missi) Koebke, Blake(Amanda) Koebke, Cole Koebke and Alyssa Koebke, Walter Therneau and David(Anna) Therneau; 8 great grandchildren;  1 sister – Marion(Vince) Olson of Spring Valley and 1 sister-in-law – Maggie Affeldt of Wykoff,MN and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, her son – Ron Koebke, her parents and 1 brother – Marlin Affeldt.                                                                               

A memorial service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday (May 8, 2019)  at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester with Rev. Nathaniel Schwartz officiating.  Burial will follow in Racine-Salem Cemetery in rural Racine,MN. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from  5 to 7:00 P.M. on  Tuesday ( May 7, 2019) at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville and 1 hr. prior to the service at the church on Wednesday morning.
