Linda L. Vaupel

Linda  L. Vaupel, 71, of Stewartville, MN, died surrounded by her family, on Wednesday (12/26/2018), from complications of a lengthy illness with cancer, at the Stewartville Care Center where she had been a resident for the past 6 days.

Linda Lou Taylor  was born on January 27, 1947 in Stewartville, MN to Floyd and Myrle(Amos) Taylor.  Linda grew up in Stewartville, where she attended school, graduating from Stewartville H.S. in 1965.  Linda was married on August 6, 1966 at the United Methodist Church in Stewartville to Robert  J. Vaupel. Following their marriage the couple moved to rural Grand Meadow, MN, where they farmed, raised their sons and lived for all of their married years. Linda was a homemaker and was employed for a short time at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, with the Stewartville School District as a “lunch lady” and as a sales associate for a number of years at Kohl’s Department Store in Rochester. Bob was a longtime area farmer. Mr. Vaupel died on January 25, 2003. Linda moved into Stewartville where she has continued to make her home. She was a longtime member of Stewartville United Methodist Church.  Linda was an avid shopper and collector. She enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling with family and playing bridge with her girlfriends. She enjoyed time spent with her large family through the years, visiting them in warmer climates. She especially loved time with her sons and families and following her grandkids sporting and school activities.

Linda is survived by her 3 sons – Mark(Annemarie) of Austin, MN; Mike(Angie) of Overland Park, KS and Mat(Lisa) of rural Racine, MN; 7 grandchildren –  Robert(Mallory) Vaupel, Ben Vaupel, Amanda(Eric) Harrington, David Vaupel, Elizabeth Vaupel, Layne Vaupel and Nick Vaupel; 2 sisters and 3 brothers – Marlene Marsh(Dave Marsh) of Rosemount, MN; Dan(Nancy) Taylor of Rochester;  Jeff(Mary) Taylor of Stewartville; Missy Meyer – Taylor of Hayfield, MN and James(Helene) Stockfleth of  Oregon. Linda was preceded in death by her husband - Bob, her parents and her brother – Charlie Taylor (Janet).

A memorial service will take place in the spring on Saturday (April  27,  2019) at the United Methodist Church in Stewartville.  A  2nd obituary will be published the week of the service with times of services and visitation and will be found on our website. Linda’s family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or Seasons Hospice in Rochester. They request that no floral arrangements be sent at this time.
