Lee E. Farnsworth Obituary

Lee Edward Farnsworth, 86, of Stewartville, passed away Tuesday (June 25, 2019) at the Stewartville Care Center, after a lifetime battle with lung disease.

Lee was born August 5, 1932 in Howard County, Iowa, the son of Fay and Elfrieda (Munkel) Farnsworth.  He moved with his family as a young boy to Spring Valley, MN where he attended school and was a 1951 graduate of Spring Valley H. S. He was employed by the City of Spring Valley for a few years. On August 29, 1963 he married Audrey King in Spring Valley. Following their marriage the couple moved to Stewartville where they raised their sons and have continued to make their home. Lee was employed for 36 years as a mechanic and foreman at Rochester Materials Company (ROMAC) in Rochester. Audrey was a 30 yr. employee with ServiceMaster of Hiawatha Valley in Rochester.  Lee was an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast, a lifetime member of the Harley Owners Group and a 100% believer in “Made in America.”  Lee and Audrey took many trips on their H-D.  He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion - Post 164 in Stewartville and was a longtime member of the Local 49er’s Union in Rochester. He will be remembered for his one-liners, Windsor sours, and a man that could fix anything.  He was a great husband, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle, and a friend to everyone.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Stewartville Care Center and Seasons Hospice for their care and concern for Lee.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Audrey, two sons, Jeffrey of Palm Springs, CA and Dallas (Kathy) of Racine.  Two grand-daughters, Tara (Caleb) Feine of Byron and Tanna Farnsworth, of Leroy and four great-grandchildren, Lauren Raymond, Riley Gernentz, & Andrew and Tyler Feine. Lee was welcomed into God’s presence by family members that went before him: His father and mother and three half-brothers, Roger, Ervin & Victor and one half-sister Hazel Henrickson. Three brothers, Gerald, Neil, and Fay, and six sisters, Della Rasmussen, Vivian Shields, Virginia Necas, Edythe Tupper, Goldie Rudlong, & June Smith.

A Celebration of Lee’s life will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at the Stewartville American Legion club room from 3 to 6:00 PM.  Lee was cremated and a private family burial will be held at Hamilton Cemetery in rural Racine, MN at a later date. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville. Condolences and memories of Lee are welcome at www.griffin-gray.com
