Kevin L. Hegna

Kevin  L. Hegna, 58, of  Stewartville,MN,  passed away, with his family by his side, on Sunday (February 24, 2019) from complications of a lengthy illness with cancer, at his home.

Kevin Lynn Hegna was born on July 26, 1960 in Rochester,MN to Dennis and Marilyn(Poole) Hegna.  He grew up in Rochester, attended school there, graduating from Mayo H.S. in 1978. He  began his long career as a flooring installer at Jerrys Carpets in Rochester. Kevin was married on August 17, 1985 on the Juilus  C. Wilkie  Paddleboat in Winona,MN to Rhonda  J. Nelson. Following their marriage the couple lived in Rochester and had recently moved to Stewartville. Kevin was self-employed for a number of  years installing carpet and  other floor coverings and worked  for a number of years at Hiller Carpets in Rochester. Rhonda was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant primarily in home health care, bartended for a few years at the Eagles and was employed with ServPro for 10 years in Rochester. Kevin was interested in drawing and took art classes from renowned wildlife artist – Charles Pierson. He painted and air brushed on everything from clothing  to canvas for friends and family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family on the Mississippi River and motorcycling. He loved time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Kevin is survived by his wife - Rhonda ; 2 daughters and 1 son  – Amanda Hegna (Corey Milene) and grandchildren  - Sarena and Evan of St. Charles,MN; Ariel Hegna(Andrew Thalacker) and grandchildren – Robert and Jordan  of Stewartville,MN and Kevin Weatherly(Kery Erickson-Weatherly) and grand-daughter – Ruth of  Fountain,MN; 1 brother – Scott Hegna of Phoenix,AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law – Kimberly Hegna.

In keeping with Kevin’s wishes no services are planned at this time. A Celebration of Kevin’s Life will take place in the spring, as will burial  at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester,MN.
