Kenneth D. Minter, 75, of rural Stewartville,MN died on Monday (April 16, 2018) surrounded by family at his home, following a 2 yr. illness with liver cancer.
Kenneth David Minter was born on June 24, 1942 in Mantorville, MN to Guinn and Agnes(Stransky) Minter. He moved with his family as a young boy and grew up in Berne and Wasioja,MN. He attended rural school and Pine Island H.S. He began working in construction as a concrete laborer. Kenneth was married on February 20, 1965 in Mantorville,MN to Sharon M. Erickson. Following their marriage the couple lived in Pine Island and Rochester before moving to Pleasant Grove,MN in 1968, where they raised their children and have continued to make their home. Ken was a cement finisher for the majority of his years in construction and was employed for many years at H.O. Hanson Concrete and then Bale Construction both in Rochester, until his retirement. Sharon was a homemaker and once her kids were grown was employed at Textile Care Services in Rochester for a number of years until her retirement. Ken enjoyed hunting and fishing, rock hunting, collecting bells, woodworking and was the neighborhood fix-it man and mechanic who usually had the right part nobody else could find. He loved time spent with family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ken is survived by his wife – Sharon; 2 daughters and 1 son – Kenneth “Beannie” Minter Jr. of Rochester; Sutton Johnson(Dan Bleifus) and Stephanie(Terry) Olson both of Pleasant Grove; 8 grandchildren –Joshua(Leah) Majerus, Natasha Minter(Matt Rahlf), Karly(Caleb) Faulhauber, Taylor Minter, Nathaniel Johnson, Alyssa Minter, Trayton Olson and Trystan Olson; 6 great grandchildren – Makia, Ayden, Mason, Peyton, Emberlynn and Cash; 1 sister Alyce Swanson of Hastings,MN and 3 brothers – Donald Minter of Byron,MN; Richard(Robertina) Minter and Guinn(Phyllis) Minter both of Stewartville. He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister – Gwendolyn Minter and 2 brothers – Robert Minter and Thomas Minter. .
A Celebration of Ken’s Life will take place from 2 to 6:00 P.M. on Saturday (May 5, 2018) at the American Legion - Post 164 in Stewartville. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville.
