The memorial service for James S. Hale, 57, of Stewartville,MN. will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday(October 12, 2018) at the United Methodist Church in Stewartville,MN with Rev. Bridget Sheely officiating. Jim died on Sunday (October 7, 2018) at the Stewartville Care Center, following an accidental fall at his home in Red Wing,MN , two weeks ago.
James Steven Hale was born on February 23, 1961 in Rochester,MN to Robert “Bob” and Joyce(Vinton) Hale Jr. He grew up in rural Stewartville, attended Stewartville schools graduating from Stewartville H.S. in 1979. He attended Rochester Community College and graduated from it’s Certified Nursing Assistant program. Before attending RCC and after completing his CNA training, Jim was employed at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Growing up he was an avid trapper and enjoyed fishing and hunting. In 1988, Jim was in an automobile accident and suffered a severe brain injury. He was cared for by his family for 7 years, before moving to Red Wing,MN where he has lived in an assisted living facility. Jim had a quick sense of humor, enjoyed listening to music(especially classic rock) and visiting with others. He loved time spent with his family and trips to the farm and as he often liked to say – “Catch ya on the flip side!”
Jim is survived by his father - Robert (Jona) Hale Jr. of rural Stewartville; 2 brothers – Greg(Heather) and Sean(Ann) both of rural Stewartville; special nieces – Gabi, Emma, Emmerson, Josie, Jessie and Jada; 1 step- sister – Dawn Zabinski of Kimball,Mn; 2 step-brothers – Troy(Jill) Helget of Racine and Monte(Kelly) Helget of Clearwater,MN; aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother – Joyce and infant brother – Jeffrey and his grandparents.
A time of visitation for family and friends will take place 1 hr. prior to the service at the church on Friday morning. A private family burial will take place at a later date at Hamilton Cemetery in rural Racine. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville.
