Gertrude "Trudi" Myers

Gertrude “Trudi “  (Petzet) Myers, 69, of rural Racine, MN found peace and went to heaven on Friday(February 22,  2019). She passed away following a long illness, with her loving husband David and daughter Sarah by her side at Mayo Clinic – Rochester  St. Marys Campus.

Gertrude Agnes Petzet was born in Tulsa, OK to George and Marion (Schrieber) Petzet.  She grew up in Tulsa and graduated from high school there. Trudi, David and Sarah lived in Virginia and Wisconsin. Trudi was a stay at home Mom to Sarah. David was an aviation technician for many years.  While living in Wisconsin, Trudi was an active member of Oak Creek Community United Methodist Church, where she met many friends. After moving to Racine, MN in 2014, she and David became active members of Stewartville United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed volunteering, serving others, and loved God. Trudi showed us how to live with grace despite her over 40 years of illness. She always thought of others and loved to cook and sew for her family. She was grateful to everyone who cared for her. She never complained or dwelled on what she was missing, but chose to live as fully as she could each day. Her greatest joy was her family.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and we were deeply blessed to have had her with us. 

She is survived by her husband of 43 years – David, and  her daughter - Sarah Decker, son-in-law Matt, and grandbabies, Ruby, Kellan and Hazel of Rochester,MN.  She is also survived by 2 brothers – Greg (Pam) Petzet and Alan (Sandie)Petzet, of Tulsa Oklahoma, her sister-in-law Georgia (David)Curry, and nieces and nephews. Her parents preceded her in death.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday  (March 5, 2019) at the Stewartville United Methodist Church with Rev. Wane Souhrada officiating.  A time of visitation for family and friends will be 1 hr. prior to the service.  A spring burial will take place at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston,MN.  The Myers Family suggests memorials in Trudi’s name to the American Cancer Society or  the Lymphoma Research Foundation.  Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville,MN.
