Carole Myhre Walz, 82, of Stewartville,MN died on Tuesday(12/25/2018) of natural causes at the Stewartville Care Center, where she had been a resident since 2015.

Carol Louise Myhre was born on February 3, 1936 in Spring Grove,MN to Oswald and Ruby(Wold) Myhre. She moved with her family as a 5 yr. old to Rochester,MN where she attended school, graduating from Rochester H.S. in 1954. She then attended Rochester Junior College for 2 years. She was employed for a few years at IBM in Rochester and then was employed at Waters Connelly Co. and the Rochester Methodist Hospital. Carole was married on August 17, 1963 in Rochester to Grant Emerson. They lived in Rochester for a number of years and were later divoriced. Carole moved to California where she met and married Marcus E. Walz on July 5, 1981 in Las Vegas,NV. Following their marriage the couple lived in Frazier Park,CA for a few years before moving to Zeeland N.D., where they made their home together and lived for many years. Carole and her husband collected and sold antiques. Mr. Walz died on December 27, 2003. Carole moved to Stewartville in 2009 to live near her family. She enjoyed traveling with Marc, collected antique purses, liked to garden and loved her cats.

Carole is survived by her brother – Thomas(Darlene) Myhre Sr. of rural Stewartville; 4 nephews, Scott(Sylvia) Myhre, Mark(Sharon) Myhre,Thomas jr(Heather) Myhre, John(Missy) Myhre, and 3 nieces, Jean Myhre(Larry Madsen), Sonya(Patrick) Mansfield, Tonya(Kurt) Koehler; her daughter Ruth Sovell and 2 grandsons of Shakopee,MN and many great nieces and nephews. Carole was preceded in death by her husband – Marc, her parents and her brother and sister–in-law – Richard and Dorothy Myhre.

A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 5 to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday (January 2, 2019) at Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville. A private family committal service will take place at a later date in North Dakota. Carol’s family suggests memorials to the Stewartville Care Center. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray F.H.
