Annette L. Sackett Obituary

Annette L. Sackett, 67, of Stewartville, Mn, passed peacefully surrounded by family, on Tuesday (May 29, 2018) at The Haven at Cottagewood  in Rochester, MN, succumbing to a 9 year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Annette Louise Kozicki was born on July 21, 1950 in Wisconsin Rapids,WI toJoe and Joan ( Malecki)  Kozicki where she was raised in a loving family including 3 brothers and 2 sisters. She attended parochial school and graduated from Assumption High School in 1968. It was in Rapids that she met and then married Mark Van Tassel on April 20, 1968. They moved to Rochester in 1971 where they lived for a number of years and raised their family. They were later divorced. Annette was employed at Mayo Clinic in Rochester for 34 years and was an Anesthesia Tech at the time of her retirement.On September 3, 1992 Annette married David Sackett and moved to Stewartville where they have continued to make their home.  Dave was an officer with the Rochester Police Dept. for 33 years and part-time with the Olmsted County Sheriffs Department for 10 years. Together Annette and Dave enjoyed antiquing, traveling, dining out and going to auctions. They both were active members of Pleasant Grove Church of Christ in Pleasant Grove,MN.Annette enjoyed volunteering at Maple Manor Nursing Home and the Stewartville Care Center. She was an avid quilter, enjoyed ceramics, long walks, reading and spending time with her large loving family.

The family wishes to thank the staff at The Haven of Cottagewood and Mayo Hospice for helping Annette and her family get through this difficult time.

Annette is survived by her husband - David and her children - Amy(Tim) Hoven of Rochester; Paul(Sara) Van Tassel of Stewartville and Jamie (Chad) Rogers of Rochester; 6 step-Children - Kim(Paul) Rowekamp of  Roseville,MN; James(Diane) Sackett of  Rochester; Joni(Tony) Canney of Lakeville,MN; Ann (John) Bidus of Hawthorne Woods,IL; John(Nikki) Sackett of Rochester and Sarah Mason (Tom Hole) of Eagan,MN; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 17 step-grandchildren; 1 sister and 3 brothers  - Joe (Pat) Kozicki of Wisconsin Rapids,WI; Steve(Leslie) Kozicki of Rudolph,WI; Mary(Dick) LaFontaine of Auburn,ME  and John (September) Kozicki of Rudolph,WI.  Annette was preceded in death by her infant son Scott, her parents and her sister - Helen Kozicki.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday (June  2,  2018) at the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ with Rev. Lance Lowrenz officiating. A private family burial will take place at a later date. A time of visitation for family and friends will take place from 5 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday(June 1, 2018) at Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville and 1 hr. prior to the service at the church on Saturday afternoon.
